Fane belongs to a long-dead race called the Eternals, a precursor race to the seven races of Rivellon who shared features of the seven races to come. That’s right – Fane is not a skeleton, and he will rudely remind everybody who asks of that fact. Should the player choose Fane for his origin story, they are taken on a mysterious quest focused on the disappearance of Fane’s people – the Eternals. At first glance, Fane is a skeletal know-it-all searching for his missing mask, but there’s a lot more enigma to this character than meets the eye. There are many companions to bring into the party in Divinity Original Sin 2, perhaps the most iconic of whom is Fane.
